Police arrested a Weare man who allegedly assaulted two police officers and resisted arrest after the officers were called to his home for a reported 911 hang-up call.
Police arrested Dennis Gosselin, 35, of 17 Newman Wilson Road, just after midnight on Jan. 1. Sgt. James Carney and officer Chad Clark went to the home after receiving a disconnected 911 call where Gosselin’s girlfriend was calling for help.
When they arrived, the woman said Gosselin had been drinking and had damaged some of her belongings. Police said they also noticed a telephone that had been ripped from the wall and thrown on the floor.
When Carney and Clark tried to speak with Gosselin, they said he began to yell and swear at them. Then, when they tried to take him into custody, he assaulted both officers and punched one of them in the face. Once he was in the back of the car, police said Gosselin started to ram his head into the window, eventually breaking it.
At press time, Gosselin was being held at the Valley St. Jail in Manchester on $5,000 cash bail. An arraignment was scheduled at the Goffstown District Court for Monday, Jan. 3, on two counts of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, obstructing the report of a crime and simple assault on his girlfriend.
