Ask for sweat equity
and not money
Goffstown District Court will soon be leaving its location in the basement of the town office building to move to a new home on Mast Road. And when that happens, the town may revamp the basement to provide more space for the town offices. However, the town wants to hire a consultant to create a floor plan for this vacated space – at an estimated price of $10,000. Excuse me? In this economy, the last thing we need to be doing is spending $10,000 on a consultant to basically tell the town where to place desks and filing cabinets. Yes, there is a fund that this money could potentially come out of, but if the trustees of the trust funds don’t approve this, it could come out of taxpayers’ pockets. Instead of asking taxpayers or trustees for money to do this, why not ask for some good old-fashioned sweat equity? We’re sure there are residents out there skilled in creating floor plans who would be willing to step up to the plate and do this for free, or maybe even for a free lunch. - Editorials published by Neighborhood News Inc. are written by an editorial board.
