Allenstown
Body
found
By Nicholas Brown Police recovered the body of a 28-year-old Concord man, John Crowell, in the Suncook River on Tuesday, April 21, near the Pembroke and Allenstown line. Pembroke police Lt. Scott Lane said Crowell may have fallen into the river accidentally early on the morning his body was discovered. He said police suspect no foul play. Crowell’s body was scheduled for an autopsy at the Concord medical examiner’s office on Wednesday, April 26, after press time. The exact cause of death wouldn’t be determined until the examiner’s report, said Lane. Lane said investigators discovered that Crowell may have been drinking at the nearby American Legion hall on the night of the apparent accident, but was not reported looking angry or upset. Friends last saw Crowell at about 1:30 a.m., said Lane. A 911 call notified police of Crowell’s body, in front of Pembroke’s Emerson Mill condominiums, at about 8 a.m. Allenstown police and the state police major crimes unit also responded to the call. Lane said broken branches near the scene indicate that Crowell may have fallen down an embankment into the river.
